Geography and Climate

The Maltese Archipelago consist of 3 populated islands Malta, Gozo and Comino and two islets named Cominotto and Filfla. 

It is the second most densely populated piece of land in Europe with a current population of 403,532 which triples in the summer months to accommodate the influx of tourists!  The islands have an area of 316sqm which means distances don’t take long to cover.  You can drive from one end of the island to the other in about 1 hour.

Malta has no mountains or rivers. A series of low hills with terraced fields on the slopes characterize the island.  The coastline is well indented, providing numerous harbours, bays, creeks, sandy beaches and rocky coves, ideal for sun-seeking or Diving holidays.

There are only really two seasons in Malta, the dry summer season, when the countryside turns to browns and beiges, and the mild winter season which is green and full of flowers and ideal for country-walking holidays.
